ROAD HOP
Cross the road and don't get hit by a car. This classic style game is a fan favorite and the object is to maneuver between cars and trucks that are different lengths traveling at different speeds. You have 3 lives and the game gets harder the more levels you clear. Decide whether to cross now or back up and wait for a better opening.
How to play
Move up, down, left or right to dodge the cars. You can move backwards once crossing if it was a bad idea. There are only 3 lives per game so be cautious when crossing the road and don't get squished. Losing a life brings you back to the beginning of that level. Losing all 3 lives restarts the whole game. The cars get faster with less gaps in between them.
Behind the game
This was the first game on GameMyself to introduce the D-Pad on mobile games. The particular challenge in setting this up was fitting it correctly and all together on the mobile platform. Making a thumb-stick was not accurate enough for these games that need precise movement. This would be the first of many to use these controls, which made implementing mobile controls in future games easier.
Hints
Waiting for the right opportunity to cross is the best way to get past the levels. Sometimes everything lines up and you can go straight across the lanes. Other times, the opening is not there and you need to hop along with traffic to get into the next opening. This can also backfire and you may have the chance to go backwards in order to stay alive. As the game progresses, the speed and number of cars increase. This gives you less and less time to make the space. Take heed in choosing the best moment to run in between the cars.
