NIGHT WATCH

You are an overnight security guard monitoring cameras with motion sensors. You work at a bank that seems to always be getting robbed. The bad guys can come in from the lobby with crowbars, try to sneak in with a decoy armored truck, or drop down from the roof with a rope to rob the vault. The attacks increase the more nights you play. You have a finite amount of cash, and you must protect the money in order to not lose.

How to play

There are 5 camera zones that you can toggle between. Each camera toggle has a half-second static delay as it switches screens. The lobby is the most contested zone, with robbers coming to the front door. Click the Drop Shutter button when they arrive to stop them from entering. Starting on night 2, armored trucks will arrive in the Bay. There is a list of deliveries with plate numbers and a schedule that shows a time frame. If a plate is not on this list or comes at a time that is way off, it is probably a bad guy. The third enemy comes from the roof. The way to stop them is by switching to the vault screen and sealing it at the best time. The game ends if you run out of money. Money carries over and the only way to gain money is to buzz through the legitimate armored trucks. You will lose money any time a robbery is successful.

Behind the game

I received a game idea that did not pass the site's safety filter. I came up with a unique game with a similar playing style to the suggested game. I had not personally played this type of game but found it to be enjoyable. The fun is in the pressure of multitasking between multiple threat vectors to protect the bank. There are false alarms that distract the player causing them to look away. These include HVAC noise, a stray cat, and the building's nighttime janitor.

Hints

I would recommend keeping the camera set to the lobby because it seems to get hit the most often. I keep 1 eye on the truck schedule, 1 eye on the clock, and 1 eye on the buttons lighting up (O wait, that's 3 eyes!) I use this information and try to remember the plate number so I can quickly switch to the bay and accept or deny a truck. When someone is on the roof, it is best to wait until the status bar is near the end because the vault only seals for a set number of seconds. The exception to this is if there are 2 teams of robbers at the same time on the roof. In this case, you may not be able to stop both but can attempt to time the vault sealing.
