Your very first dig on each board is always safe, so you always get an opening to work from. Clear every safe cell to beat the level — and each new level is a bigger board with more mines, from a gentle beginner field up toward expert density.
On a phone, tap to dig and long-press to plant a flag (or tap the flag icon to switch into flag mode). On a keyboard, move with the arrow keys, press Space to dig, and F to flag. Tap a revealed number once its mines are flagged to clear its neighbours fast. One mine ends the run — your deepest level is saved.
