MINESWEEPER
Clear the board, mark the bomb, beat the level without blowing up. This is a game that used to be included on nearly every computer. It was not something you had to sneak and do or go to a sketchy website because it was free in the operating system. I wanted to bring it back and make it available to anyone who wanted to play. This game requires logical thinking to determine where to click and where not to click.
How to play
There is a big open board of squares on the screen. What do I do? No worries, click near the center of the board somewhere and a block should be uncovered. You will see numbers like 1 and 2. What 1 means is that there is 1 bomb within every square that touches the 1. If you look at 1 and make a square with your finger around the 1 you can see the blast radius. If you know where the bomb is you flag it so you know not to click it. If you look at the below picture you will see that on the right side next to a 1 I put a flag. This means there has to be a bomb at that spot because the lower 1's have to have 1 bomb within that square radius. This also means that the above ones also share this bomb. I can click above the flag now because I know it is safe. The second picture below shows what happens after I marked the bomb and clicked the spots I know are safe, revealing more of the board. The same thing applies to 2 except there are 2 bombs within that square radius.
Behind the game
This is a true puzzle game that may be confusing if you have never played it before. It brings a variety and a mixture of skill, luck, and predicting where the next bomb will be based on logic and reasoning. It gets dicey around level 2 as it becomes harder to predict and you will start to see squares with a 3 or a 4 appear. Sometimes you just have to swing and hope for the best.
Hints
The best hints are those included with the pictures. It is difficult to fully explain and will take a few tries to play and figure out how the game works. There are times when I cannot predict where the next bomb is. I can look at all the numbers that are visible and compare them to the bombs already flagged. I can make an educated guess as to where I think a bomb may or may not be. This often comes more as a guess and a 50/50 chance of getting it right. It makes the game rather fun and challenging.
