HELI CAVE Hold to climb · release to drop

HELI CAVE

Click and hold to rise up – be careful not to hit the top or bottom. This is an addicting game in which you try to beat your own score. You have 1 life to see how far you can go. The longer you stay afloat the more stressful it becomes. The cave narrows as you try to maneuver your way through the endless tunnel. This game rewards pure reaction speed.

How to play

Click and hold to raise the helicopter and release to lower it. The top and bottom of the cave are the only things that kill you and there is nothing to collect — the score is how far you get. The cave speeds up and narrows as you go, but the speed stops climbing around 1000 meters and the cave stops narrowing around 1500 meters, and after that it stays the same the whole way. Your best distance saves on your device. Just start playing, it is an intuitive game based on reaction speed and predicting the next cave height to pull up or drop down just in time to avoid crashing. This is just a fun game meant to be played over and over or until you get bored. Come back later and try again.

Behind the game

This was one of the original landscape games on the site and was a prototype for this layout. Most of our games are portrait and they work well that way. I was imagining someone on a tablet wanting to hold it the long way. The device will nudge you to rotate to view the game. There are games that work better in this view and heli cave is one of them.

Hints

Many small taps seem to work better for keeping the helicopter level than long and drawn out taps. However, this can become tiresome. I tend to die when holding for a long time and swinging up and down. Better runs last from short and deliberate movements and not wild swings of the craft. What is a good hint? Don't blink! This game requires focus and reactivity.
